Project Architect - Retail Rollout
About the Role
As a Gensler Project Architect with our dynamic Tampa team, you will combine creativity and technical knowledge to guide our clients. This role offers opportunities to develop your strengths in design and technical coordination while beginning to directly manage client relationships.
Responsibilities
- Perform technical design assignments, including programming client needs, diagramming and modeling conceptual strategies, developing conceptual designs into technical studies, and construction documentation
- Engage directly with clients and stakeholders to assure approvals
- Support communication between the project team, clients, vendors, contractors, consultants, and building and permitting officials
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, agencies, and project stakeholders to deliver successful project outcomes
- Ensure design intent, technical quality, and regulatory compliance throughout all project phases
- Oversee the bid process, including issuing bid sets, responding to RFIs, and evaluating contractor proposals in collaboration with clients
- Manage construction administration activities, including site visits, submittal reviews, RFI responses, and coordination with contractors to ensure design intent is maintained
- Drive project progress through punch list walkthroughs, final inspections, and closeout documentation to support successful project delivery
- Mentor junior staff through project work, technical guidance, and day-to-day support
Requirements
- Professional degree in Architecture from an accredited program, demonstrated with a rigorous portfolio
- Registered/Licensed Architect (or in the process of taking AREs)
- 6-10 years of relevant architectural experience, with a strong background designing multiple building typologies of varying scale within retail practice
- Revit experience required
- Outstanding knowledge of building codes, standards, and building structures
- Proficient and confident in public-speaking and moderating large teams of consultants, contractors, and clients
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to develop collaborative relationships across the firm, with clients, and with other key constituents
