Responsibilities

Operate, maintain and troubleshoot helium cryogenic systems, equipment and instrumentation.

Participate in on-call duties.

Responsible for preventively maintaining and upgrading permanent facility equipment such as control systems, safety systems and power supplies.

Operate the power supplies and support systems of the 45 Telsa Hybrid Magnet.

Operate the cryogenics system of the Series Connected Hybrid Magnet.

Provide general support to scientists including assisting with cryogenics & magnet operation.

Manage the distribution of liquid helium to scientific users & superconducting magnets.

Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and other power tools.

Maintain calm demeanor in stressful situations and have a positive teamwork attitude.

Cook up and coordinate with other NHMFL personnel in the evaluation and development of safety policies and procedures.

Serve as technical resource for scientist and users of the NHMFL cryogenic systems.

Advance, apply and be part of the NHMFL safety program by active participation in program development and via a proactive safety posture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree; or High School Diploma or equivalent and four years of experience.
