Microsoft Cloud & AI Technical Consultant role focused on pre-sales, technical delivery, and intellectual-property development for government and enterprise customers.

About the role

Participates in pre-sale activities, scopes projects, and acts as a subject-matter expert in cloud and AI domains. Leads or joins customer/partner meetings to define business needs, translate them into technical requirements, and communicate the business value of proposed solutions. Manages schedule, risks, and dependencies while delivering against a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS). Oversees aspects of implementation and ensures adherence to security, compliance, and operational policies.

Responsibilities

  • Implement technical solutions following Industry Solutions processes and security initiatives.
  • Manage relationships with customers, partners, and stakeholders to identify satisfaction drivers and root causes of dissatisfaction.
  • Support project planning, define risks and dependencies, and develop project documentation.
  • Communicate business value of solutions and implement mitigations for technical, business, and security risks.
  • Deliver against Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and manage personal schedule while communicating with project leads.
  • Lead or participate in customer/partner meetings to understand business needs and define requirements.
  • Engage with security stakeholders to prioritize security in customer requirements.
  • Proactively identify and address issues and risks with a security-first mindset.
  • Identify opportunities to expand or accelerate adoption of cloud and Microsoft technologies.
  • Act as an ambassador for intellectual property (IP), leverage IP in projects, and assist in creating new IP content.
  • Communicate gaps in IP and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Complete operational tasks, readiness activities, and maintain adherence to security standards (DCPS).
  • Follow Microsoft policies, compliance, and procedures (e.g., Enterprise Services Authorization Policy, labor logging, expenses).
  • Learn new technologies based on business demands and industry trends, evaluating their impact on security.
  • Obtain relevant accreditations and certifications as advised by domain leadership.
  • Share best practices, product news, and participate in relevant technical communities at Microsoft.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Business, or related field AND 1+ year(s) work experience in a relevant area OR equivalent experience.
  • Active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with Polygraph.
  • Must meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements pre-offer and post-hire.
  • Must pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  • U.S. citizenship required due to citizenship-based legal restrictions for supporting U.S. government customers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of work experience in a relevant area of business.
  • Technical certifications in domain/service line (e.g., Azure, Security, Dynamics).
  • Delivery Management certification (e.g., Scrum, Agile, Change Management, Project Management).

Pay

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $77,900 – $156,200 per year. A different range applies to specific work locations: USD $100,800 – $169,200 per year in the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
