Technical Cloud Architect (Virtualization & Cloud Infrastructure)

EngineeringFull-time

About the Role

We are looking for a Technical Cloud Architect to serve as a trusted technical advisor to our largest strategic customers. You will bring deep, hands-on expertise in KVM-based virtualization and the surrounding ecosystem — automation, observability, software-defined networking (SDN), and hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) storage — to help customers design, validate, and adopt modern private cloud architectures powered with HPE CloudOps Software.

This is a customer-facing, high-impact role that sits at the intersection of pre-sales engineering, solutions architecture, and product strategy. You'll spend your time in technical whiteboard sessions, hands-on proof of concepts, and writing the design guidance that shapes how customers deploy at scale — while also being a direct voice back into our engineering organization.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with large strategic customers on technical and architectural discussions, acting as a subject-matter expert on KVM virtualization and adjacent cloud infrastructure technologies
  • Design and execute proof of concepts (PoCs) that demonstrate solution value and validate architecture decisions in customer environments
  • Author design guides and reference architectures that document best practices for deployment, scaling, and operations
  • Provide structured product feedback to engineering, representing the voice of the customer and helping shape the roadmap
  • Partner with sales, product management, and customer success teams to support the technical sales cycle from discovery through deployment

Requirements

  • Hands-on production experience with KVM-based hypervisor platforms and their surrounding ecosystem, including:
    • Automation (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, or similar IaC tooling)
    • Observability (monitoring, logging, and telemetry stacks for virtualized infrastructure)
    • Software-Defined Networking (SDN)
    • Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) storage
  • Deep hands-on experience at VMware, Red Hat, or Nutanix, or Hyperscalers
  • Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both engineering and executive audiences
  • Experience running customer-facing proofs of concept and producing technical documentation or design guides
  • Comfort working cross-functionally with engineering, product, and sales teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid cloud architectures
  • Relevant certifications (RHCA, VCAP/VCDX, Nutanix NCA/NCX, or equivalent)
  • Prior experience in a solutions architect, technical field engineer, or customer-facing pre-sales role

Schedule

This role is designed as 'Hybrid' with a requirement to work on average 2 days per week from an HPE office.
