Technical Cloud Architect (Virtualization & Cloud Infrastructure)

Hewlett Packard Enterprise · Seattle, WA · 1 wk ago
Full-time

This role is designed as 'Hybrid' with a requirement to work on average 2 days per week from an HPE office.

About Us

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is the global edge-to-cloud company advancing the way people live and work. We help companies connect, protect, analyze, and act on their data and applications wherever they live, from edge to cloud, so they can turn insights into outcomes at the speed required to thrive in today’s complex world. Our culture thrives on finding new and better ways to accelerate what’s next. We value varied backgrounds and succeed here. We offer flexibility to manage work and personal needs, embrace bold moves, and are a force for good.

About the Role

We are looking for a Technical Cloud Architect to serve as a trusted technical advisor to our largest strategic customers. You will bring deep, hands-on expertise in KVM-based virtualization and the surrounding ecosystem—automation, observability, software-defined networking (SDN), and hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) storage—to help customers design, validate, and adopt modern private cloud architectures powered with HPE CloudOps Software.

This is a customer-facing, high-impact role at the intersection of pre-sales engineering, solutions architecture, and product strategy. You'll engage in technical whiteboard sessions, hands-on proof of concepts, and write design guidance that shapes how customers deploy at scale, while also providing direct feedback to our engineering organization.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with large strategic customers on technical and architectural discussions, acting as a subject-matter expert on KVM virtualization and adjacent cloud infrastructure technologies.
  • Design and execute proof of concepts (PoCs) that demonstrate solution value and validate architecture decisions in customer environments.
  • Author design guides and reference architectures that document best practices for deployment, scaling, and operations.
  • Provide structured product feedback to engineering, representing the voice of the customer and helping shape the roadmap.
  • Partner with sales, product management, and customer success teams to support the technical sales cycle from discovery through deployment.

Requirements

  • Hands-on production experience with KVM-based hypervisor platforms and their surrounding ecosystem, including:
    • Automation (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, or similar IaC tooling)
    • Observability (monitoring, logging, and telemetry stacks for virtualized infrastructure)
    • Software-Defined Networking (SDN)
    • Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) storage
  • Deep hands-on experience at VMware, Red Hat, or Nutanix, or Hyperscalers.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both engineering and executive audiences.
  • Experience running customer-facing proofs of concept and producing technical documentation or design guides.
  • Comfort working cross-functionally with engineering, product, and sales teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid cloud architectures.
  • Relevant certifications (RHCA, VCAP/VCDX, Nutanix NCA/NCX, or equivalent).
  • Prior experience in a solutions architect, technical field engineer, or customer-facing pre-sales role.

Benefits

We strive to provide our team members and their loved ones with a comprehensive suite of benefits that supports their physical, financial, and emotional wellbeing. We also invest in your career through programs catered to helping you reach your goals, whether you want to become a knowledge expert in your field or apply your skills to another division. Our culture is unconditionally inclusive, celebrating individual uniqueness and offering flexibility to manage work and personal needs.
