Responsibilities

  • Receive enquiries from our UK-wide customer base and provide competent technical guidance.
  • Provide technical assessments, including UK classification of hazardous waste in line with regulatory guidelines (EA & SEPA).
  • Utilise and maintain our internal waste and enquiry database.
  • Aid and support the UK customer service team in developing the sales function and assist in preparing and delivering sales quotes to meet client service level agreements.
  • Ensure compliance of all UK waste quotes with relevant site permits and waste management licenses.
  • Work with local site managers and operational staff to ensure waste received meets pre-acceptance criteria or is accurately described.
  • Assist in the receipt, processing, storage, and dispatch of waste, along with relevant system data management.
  • Provide local support for Haz-packing and correctly list waste for transportation.
  • Ensure waste is properly labeled and stored in accordance with site permits and relevant legislation.
  • Route hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams to approved disposal sites within the UK based on established matrices.
  • Proactively seek new disposal site options across the UK.
  • Build and maintain relationships with third-party disposal routes.
  • Support other areas of the business as required, including Industrial Services and Logistics.
  • Occasionally travel to assist other ASCO UK locations and customers, and for training and development.

Minimum Competencies (Skills, Knowledge, and Behaviors)

  • Maintain positive work relationships and communicate effectively.
  • Have knowledge of waste processes, site permits, and waste legislation.
  • Be computer literate, proficient in MS Office suite applications.
  • Be able to work under pressure.

Minimum Qualifications

  • HNC/D in Chemistry-related subject or
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry-related subject

Desirable Qualifications/Competencies

  • Understanding of the waste management sector and legislation.
  • Experience working at heights.
  • Forklift certificate.
