Technical Assistant, UTC McKenzie Arena

Responsibilities

• Aids in event preparation and hosting, including set-up and breakdown, floor installation/removal, riser movement, table installation, and stage building/removal.
• Serves as backup operator for the facility’s sound system and other electrical equipment.
• Coordinates and directs stagehands, third-party vendors, and temporary/part-time employees during event set-up and breakdown.
• Provides technical, electrical, and communication support for events.
• Performs regular maintenance on arena and Wolford Family Athletics Center equipment, staging, and flooring.
• Works with campus facilities to address equipment and structural needs.

Requirements

• Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams.
• Knowledge of sound systems, lighting systems, and communication patching.
• Understanding of theatrical language, stage cues, and spotlight repair.
• Effective working relationships with employees, the public, and event performance directors.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays with long and irregular hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and one year of relevant experience in a similar role, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Prior experience as a journeyman electrician with two years of experience preferred.
