Job Summary
Provides patient care services, cleans, maintains and stocks supplies and equipment and applies the principles of standard precautions and infection control in a variety of settings. The Technical Assistant demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide services appropriate for the population assigned. The Technical Assistant will receive assignments as delegated by the RN. The Technical Assistant will be able to access data reflective of the patient’s status and report the information needed to identify each patient’s needs relative to this information. The Technical Assistant will provide care based on established policies and procedures. The Technical Assistant performs clerical, phlebotomy, safety attendant and other duties as assigned within their scope.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Experience: 1 year of relevant experience preferred. Previous healthcare experience preferred. Licensure: Certification from Virginia Board of Nursing - preferred. Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Ability to communicate verbally and in written form. Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: Phlebotomy and medical terminology.
Responsibilities
- Provides and documents assistance to patients under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Assists/provides patient care throughout the entire patient experience under the direct supervision of the physician and/or the registered nurse.
- Assists in room turnaround, including appropriate cleaning of equipment, supplies, and environment.
- Organizes supplies and equipment as needed.
- Assists with patient care while complying with Department, Hospital, and Regulatory policies and procedures.
- Understands concepts of sterile and non-sterile techniques.
- Adheres to safety measures.
Physical Demands
Physical Demand Code: Medium to Heavy. The job requires constant standing, frequently walking, and bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs. For any weight over 35 lbs., use Safe Handling Equipment.
Pay
The base compensation range for this role is $16.25 - $23.39 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
Schedule
Part Time Days 7a-7p With Weekends Rotate. May require on call responsibilities as directed and ability to travel between campus buildings, remote facilities, and out of town as needed.
