Technical Art Manager: Infotainment 3D

About the role

Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies is a joint venture dedicated to advancing automotive technology through innovative software-defined vehicles. We aim to create a future where mobility is more connected, intelligent, and sustainable. This Technical Art Manager role is pivotal in developing advanced 3D visualizations and self-driving visualizations for Rivian's vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of Software Engineers in the development of best-in-class real-time 3D visualizations across various applications.
• Oversee the creation of intuitive and reliable applications for the Rivian in-vehicle experience.
• Collaborate closely with the UX/UI Team and Studio Team to realize cutting-edge 3D experiences.
• Manage the testing of the in-vehicle experience in the lab and in Rivian prototype vehicles, ensuring thoroughness and quality.
• Oversee the troubleshooting and resolution of issues found during testing.
• Drive research into new technologies and interfaces, fostering innovation within the team.
• Collaborate with other divisions to understand and share technology roadmaps, portfolios, and intellectual property.
• Provide technical guidance and strategic direction to the team.
• Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables for 3D infotainment features.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of software development life cycle experience, including leadership roles.
• Extensive experience with modern object-oriented languages: C++, Java, Kotlin (Python experience is a plus).
• Deep experience working with 3D real-time graphics, with experience in major game engines required (e.g., Unreal Engine, etc.).
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

Preferred / Plus Qualifications

• Experience with Android application frameworks.
• Experience with 3D models, digital materials, and lighting, with an eye for photorealism.
• Experience in game development.
• Experience in automotive electronics and/or consumer electronics.
• Proficiency in authoring animations and interactive experiences.
