Turn Complex Engineering Into Mission-Critical Documentation PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with an industry-leading aerospace and aviation organization to find an experienced Technical Writer III who is passionate about transforming highly technical information into clear, accurate, and impactful documentation. Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain operations manuals, maintenance manuals, technical supplements, and related documentation.
- Work closely with engineers and subject matter experts to gain a deep understanding of complex aerospace systems and products.
- Interpret and document information from engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, block diagrams, and CAD models.
- Create clear, accurate, and user-focused technical documentation that meets program and customer requirements.
- Lead and facilitate recurring internal and external documentation review meetings.
- Incorporate stakeholder feedback into documentation revisions and updates.
- Verify documentation content for accuracy, completeness, standards compliance, and intended audience suitability.
- Support Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) preparation, technical manuals, test plans, and procedures.
- Create and maintain documentation templates, layout guides, graphics resources, and other content standards.
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary design and development teams to ensure documentation quality and consistency.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and typically 6+ years of relevant technical writing experience.
- Advanced degree may substitute for experience.
- Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Advanced knowledge of technical writing principles, practices, and industry standards.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe publishing and documentation tools.
- Experience developing complex technical documents containing graphics, tables, diagrams, and embedded content.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering, design, and development teams.
- Familiarity with S1000D documentation standards, XML authoring environments.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience preparing CDRLs, test plans, technical procedures, and operations manuals.
- Ability to develop documentation drafts with minimal direction from engineers and subject matter experts.
- Experience gathering product and documentation requirements from diverse stakeholder groups.
- Knowledge of documentation quality assurance, content verification, and standards compliance.
- Experience developing and maintaining documentation templates, layout guides, graphics libraries and resources.
- Familiarity with internal technical reference documentation, data libraries, training materials, process guides, and procedural documentation.
- Experience reviewing, editing, and formatting business proposals, product management documents, RFP responses, marketing communications, organizational documents.
- Proficiency with Adobe FrameMaker.
- Aerospace, Defense, DoD, or aviation industry experience strongly preferred.
