About the role

Amazon internships are full-time, Monday-Friday positions with up to 40 hours per week, typically from 8am-5pm. Specific team norms regarding working hours will be communicated by your manager. Interns should not have conflicts such as classes or other employment during the Amazon workday.

Responsibilities

  • Part of a creative, efficient team tackling fascinating challenges in designing, building, and operating Amazon data center facilities.
  • Project oversight and review of all disciplines including electrical, mechanical, controls, and architectural.
  • Identify areas for improvement and act on data provided from other teams and organizations.
  • Design, develop, and deploy innovative solutions to address operational challenges.
  • Work independently and within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Scope of projects includes improving electrical, mechanical, fire detection, and building automation systems.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in an academic program physically located in the United States.
  • Knowledge of Power Systems, Fluid Dynamics, or Thermodynamics.
  • Experience using web-based and other software tools for calculation and data processing.
  • At least 18 years old.
  • Commit to 12 weeks of internship.
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a similar field.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 quarter/semester/trimester remaining in studies after the internship concludes.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Passionate about the Customer Experience, global thinking, and operational excellence in Amazon data centers.
  • Hands-on experience in one of our data centers in Virginia, Oregon, Ohio, Texas, Georgia, or Washington.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of vendors, people, and teams with high-level customer service.
