Job Summary
Functions under the direction of the Chief Technologists or Site Manager. Providing safe, age appropriate care to the patients in accordance with Policy and Procedures. Maintains good working relationships with managers, staff, physicians and their staff. Assist technologists and/or nurses with patient throughput, room turnover, performs patient advocate functions, and assists with supply and room stocking activities.
Core Responsibilities And Essential Functions
- Aids clinical staff during examinations.
- Observes patients during examinations and transports them to the next step of their procedure.
- Maintains room turnover activities to facilitate patient throughput.
- Starts IVs for contrast injections as needed.
- Helps maintain exam rooms with supplies and linens.
- Inventories paper forms and orders as needed.
- Fulfills transportation of dirty equipment according to procedures.
- Stocks rooms and rotates stock to avoid expiration of supplies.
- Performs Quality Control (QC) on POCT lab testing devices and documents results per policy after initial training, completes annual refresher training.
- Performs POCT prior to procedures when appropriate, after initial training and annual refresher training.
- Transports patients, along with necessary items (IV poles, O2 tanks, etc.), ensuring confidentiality of patient information to remain compliant with HIPAA guidelines.
- Introduces self to patient and/or family upon entering room, identifies patient using 2 identifiers, explains where patient is going when transporting between departments, performs appropriate hand-offs per protocol, and ensures confidentiality of patient information.
- Aids in getting patients on and off stretchers or beds as required.
- Assists with observation of patients while in the department.
- Performs patient advocate role for patients while in the department.
- Verbalizes role in response to WellStar Emergency Plans.
- Ensures flexibility with work hours to meet department needs.
- Communicates and understands verbal and written English language and displays a positive attitude.
- Obtains CPR certification.
Required Minimum Education
High School Diploma
Required Minimum License(s) And Certification(s)
- BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor
Additional License(s) And Certification(s) Required Minimum Experience
- Clinical Experience In a Healthcare Setting.
- Medical Imaging experience preferred.
Required Minimum Skills
- Demonstrates good communication skills and handwriting.
- Must obtain medical terminology training within twelve (12) months.
- The individual must be able to communicate and understand verbal and written English language and display a positive attitude (see WellStar's Standards of Gold and Values).
