TECH - ER

Responsibilities

• Affords patient care based on individual patient needs within the scope of practice under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse.
• Maintains effective communication with patients and families, departmental staff, and medical staff.
• Prepares and organizes records on the nursing unit.
• Enacts and implements directions from physicians and nursing staff.
• Engages in performance improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• An EMT, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or Emergency Room technician certification preferred.
• De-escalation training (completed through CPI within six months of employment) is required in the relevant specialty.
• A current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required or must be obtained upon starting the position.
• A high school diploma or equivalent educational background is required.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
• A competency checklist must be completed before starting to administer intravenous treatments.
• Knowledge of major machines, tools, equipment, and work aids used in the workplace, including vital sign monitoring equipment, patient transport/lifting equipment, computers, glucometers, weight scales, specialty beds, suction devices, phones, faxes, copiers, scanners, traction equipment, and PCs.
