Tech 1, Maintenance- (DPFG)

About the role
This second-shift position (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM, Monday to Friday) assists with the installation, maintenance, and repair of Drug Product (DP) related systems and equipment—such as filling lines, automated inspection lines, formulation, and isolation—to ensure they meet stringent pharmaceutical manufacturing requirements. The role conducts regular inspections and preventive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.
Responsibilities
- Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on process equipment, including bioreactors, centrifuges, ultrafiltration skids, parts washers, autoclaves, isolators, and fillers.
- Assists senior technicians in troubleshooting and repairing equipment malfunctions.
- Maintains accurate maintenance records and documentation.
- Follows standard operating procedures (SOPs) and protocols to ensure compliance with safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) quality standards.
- Adheres to all safety requirements and follows safe work practices.
- Notifies management or Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) when unsafe conditions or hazards are found.
- Attends all required safety and health training.
- Supports site operations and emergency work orders during off-hours, as needed.
- Assists with spare parts assessments, as required.
- Performs other duties, as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED.
- 1-2 years of maintenance experience.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of mechanical systems.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of GMP requirements and programmable logic controllers (PLC) or other process control systems.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and time management skills.
- Willingness to learn new skills and processes.
- Must be able to support a 24/7 manufacturing facility, including shift work, on-call, and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in mechanical, electrical, chemical engineering, or a related field.
- Prior maintenance experience in a pharmaceutical or manufacturing environment.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- May require respiratory protection in certain environments.
- May work in mechanical/production spaces requiring hearing protection and enrollment in a hearing conservation program.
- May operate a motor vehicle or Powered Industrial Truck.
- Ability to discern audible cues.
- Ability to inspect or perform tasks with 20/20 corrected vision, including color distinction.
- Ability to ascend or descend ladders, scaffolding, or ramps.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods (up to 60 minutes).
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods (up to 60 minutes).
- Ability to conduct activities using repetitive motions of wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Ability to operate machinery and/or power tools.
- Ability to move objects up to 50 pounds (10–50 lbs).
- Ability to bend, push, pull, reach (18” to 60” in height), and use twisting motions.
