We are seeking a full-time Team Leader Software Engineering in the Greater Denver area.
About the role
In this role, you will direct and coordinate activities of a Software Engineering team responsible for software development for a product or family of products.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of Software Engineers, Software Technicians, Software Project Managers, and/or Software Quality Engineers with diverse capability levels in the design of new products, enhancement of existing designs, and development of test procedures
- Coordinate and participate in generating software requirements and designs for a product or family of products in accordance with Garmin’s software development methodology
- Participate in software design reviews, ensuring proper attendees and coverage of topics, and imparting lessons learned and good design practices
- Create product development plans as directed by engineering management
- Ensure the team meets overall development goals in accordance with the product development plan or market requirements and that project milestones are met
- Monitor progress of the software teams in meeting product requirements and schedule compliance
- Directly supervise various levels of software team members by setting the tone for the team environment and providing individualized coaching, training, and mentoring
- Participate in recruiting activities, including interviewing, hiring, training, and evaluating performance for the team
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math, Physics, or related field AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR a minimum of 10 years relevant experience
- Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
- Detailed knowledge and experience with high-level language structure in C, C++, C#, and/or Java relevant to Garmin’s business needs
- Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Positive, detail-oriented, organized, team-oriented, and a driven problem solver, multi-tasker, and self-starter with the ability to prioritize and lead in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Previous leadership or mentorship experience
Qualifications
- Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
- Previous software engineering leadership experience
