Team Leader - Senior Roadway / Transportation Engineer (PE) - FDOT: 3740
About the Role
Halff has an opening for a Senior Roadway Engineer, with a Florida PE License, to grow our Transportation practice in Northeast Florida. The ideal candidate would have at least 10 years of progressive experience in the FDOT Roadway / Transportation Engineering industry. The selected individual will be responsible for the growth and success of roadway / transportation design, planning, and related services within the area, including team management and performance, business development, client relationships, and project delivery.

Halff’s Transportation services safely move people, vehicles, and freight using multimodal applications ranging from roadways (local roads to interstate highways), transit, and active transportation projects from initial planning through final design. The complete project development process includes responsive planning and design such as geometrics and storm drainage. It incorporates technology and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) to relay roadway information and communication. Finally, it brings transit planning and design to the forefront.
Responsibilities
- Provide strong leadership, guidance, and technical expertise to an existing exceptional Transportation Team.
- Further develop and mentor members of the Transportation Team.
- Oversee team performance (production, profitability, quality, staffing, etc.).
- Maintain and further develop client relationships throughout Northeast Florida including FDOT and multiple Cities and Counties.
- Identify business opportunities and lead the successful pursuit of roadway / transportation design projects.
- Directly manage projects and oversee project managers on various projects.
- Work closely with other Halff leaders and manage resources to successfully workshare across the company on multiple projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or ABET accredited equivalent Engineering degree.
- At least 10 years of progressive experience with FDOT Roadway / Transportation Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License in Florida.
- Recognized leadership and existing relationships with transportation clients within Northeast Florida.
- Strong local municipal client connections.
- Ability to lead a project and supervise technical staff.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Client interaction and development, project production, and staffing.
- A positive attitude, self-directed yet a team player, with a focus on quality, integrity, and success.
