Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise second-shift employees across machine shops, die shops, and spare-parts areas.
  • Assign work, monitor progress, and adjust priorities to meet production schedules.
  • Conduct shift start-up meetings, communicate daily goals, and ensure alignment with first-shift and third-shift operations.
  • Ensure machines, tooling, and equipment are operating safely and efficiently.
  • Cook up die repairs, machining tasks, and spare-parts requests to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and 5S/lean practices.
  • Monitor workflow and proactively address bottlenecks or resource shortages.
  • Ensure all work meets quality standards and follows established procedures.
  • Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions for quality or process issues.
  • Train, coach, and mentor team members to build skill sets and improve performance.
  • Provide real-time feedback and participate in performance evaluations.
  • Promote a positive, collaborative, and safety-focused work environment.
  • Serve as the primary contact for second-shift issues, escalations, and decision-making.
  • Document shift activities, production results, downtime events, and staffing updates.
  • Communicate effectively with maintenance, engineering, production planning, and management.

Qualifications

  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing, machining, and die shop environment preferred.
  • Experience with CNC programming and offline software preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, die repair, and spare-parts management.
  • Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to lead diverse teams.
  • Working knowledge of safety standards, lean manufacturing, TPM, and continuous improvement principles.
