Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise second-shift employees across machine shops, die shops, and spare-parts areas.
- Assign work, monitor progress, and adjust priorities to meet production schedules.
- Conduct shift start-up meetings, communicate daily goals, and ensure alignment with first-shift and third-shift operations.
- Ensure machines, tooling, and equipment are operating safely and efficiently.
- Cook up die repairs, machining tasks, and spare-parts requests to minimize downtime.
- Maintain compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and 5S/lean practices.
- Monitor workflow and proactively address bottlenecks or resource shortages.
- Ensure all work meets quality standards and follows established procedures.
- Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions for quality or process issues.
- Train, coach, and mentor team members to build skill sets and improve performance.
- Provide real-time feedback and participate in performance evaluations.
- Promote a positive, collaborative, and safety-focused work environment.
- Serve as the primary contact for second-shift issues, escalations, and decision-making.
- Document shift activities, production results, downtime events, and staffing updates.
- Communicate effectively with maintenance, engineering, production planning, and management.
Qualifications
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing, machining, and die shop environment preferred.
- Experience with CNC programming and offline software preferred.
- Strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, die repair, and spare-parts management.
- Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to lead diverse teams.
- Working knowledge of safety standards, lean manufacturing, TPM, and continuous improvement principles.
