Primary Essential Responsibilities
- Ensures safety is the #1 priority at all times.
- Participates and promotes safety, quality, delivery, and cost improvements in an active manner.
- Leads and directs the daily Tier 1 meeting.
- Leads the production team in the absence of the Production Supervisor.
- Maintains/monitors production goals and effectively communicates requirements to team members.
- Coordinates production schedules and works with Supervisors to estimate team member hour requirements, and overtime needed.
- Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders (BOMs) with support from Engineering to team members and assigns workstation duties.
- Opens and or closes the shop as necessary to support production shifts.
- Initiates, assists, and/or cooperates in the set-up and implementation of improvement initiatives.
- Works with and supports the use of Shop Trak, Syteline and Visual Dispatch to sequence jobs through the shop.
- Works with Planning to ensure that cycle counts are done in a timely manner and the scrap logs are filled out and adjusted accordingly.
- Works with the Supervisor to facilitate and support employee records for training, safety, attendance, and production; submits information to Human Resources in a timely manner.
- Reports machine and equipment malfunctions to Maintenance department employees using Somax.
- Communicates with their team and other Team Leads to coordinate activities of individual departments.
- Enforces company policies, rules, and regulations in a firm, fair, and consistent manner.
Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- 3-5 years of related production work experience and have a working knowledge of production operations.
- Ability to hold people accountable.
- Ability to support constructive work relationships; communicating both orally and in writing.
- Basic math skills required.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Ability to read a ruler or tape measure.
- Ability to problem-solve.
- Must be forklift certified as necessary for the area in which they work (or obtain the certification upon hire).
- Must hold a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle.
