Team Lead - Histology Lab
About the role
The Team Lead contributes to the diagnosis, treatment, and care of patients by accurately processing surgical pathology specimens. Responsibilities include processing, embedding, and microtomy of all surgical tissues; and frozen section staining; routine H&E and special staining such as electromicrotomy, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemistry; tissue processing; equipment maintenance and record retention; and knowledge of pathology Laboratory Information System. Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the histology department in the absence of the histology supervisor. Maintains complete and accurate documentation of data generated and work performed; assists in Quality Management and problem solving; participates in testing and implementation of new equipment; develops protocols and QC slides; helps train new personnel; monitors supplies as needed; helps coordinate staff shift coverage and workload distribution; and assists in other activities as directed. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the department.

Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university in histology, biology or having emphasized anatomical, biological, and chemical sciences and minimum 2 years laboratory experience; or Associate of Science degree from an accredited college/university in histology, biology or having emphasized anatomical, biological, and chemical science required and a minimum 4 years laboratory experience.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong leadership skills and demonstrated good judgment in dealing with a variety of procedural and technical issues
- Experience in test development and immunohistochemistry preferred
- HT or HTL (ASCP)
