Responsibilities
- Supervision of the histology laboratory and administrative assistant personnel.
- Training new personnel.
- Performance evaluations in lead area.
- Development of new procedures and evaluation of new equipment and reagents.
- Recognizing abnormal results, troubleshooting instrument problems, and recognizing quality control problems.
- Routinely reviewing slides with Pathologist.
- Logging in, labeling, and processing specimens.
- Embedding, paraffin microtomy, cryostat microtomy, non-gynecological specimen processing.
- Staining of slides, performing special stains, and performing gross description of small biopsies according to protocol.
Requirements
- Associates Degree, HT (ASCP) or eligible.
- Bachelors Degree, HTL (ASCP) or eligible.
- MLS (ASCP) with successful completion of Histotechnology training course and HTL (ASCP) certification within two years of hire.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5 years.
Skills
- Strong organizational skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of histology techniques and pathology.
