About the role
Full‑time, non‑exempt Team Lead reporting to the Club Manager. Responsible for assisting in the oversight of gym operations to ensure a positive member experience and a financially successful club.
Responsibilities
- Assist in member service oversight, ensuring all staff provide great customer experiences.
- Perform front‑desk tasks and remain heavily involved in front‑desk operations.
- Greet and meet potential members, providing gym tours.
- Facilitate member service issues and answer questions.
- Provide backup support to the Club Manager as needed.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness and appearance of the gym.
- Help manage marketing efforts, ensuring staff are aware of and trained on current promotions.
- Assist in ordering supplies, maintaining inventory, and tracking related reports.
Requirements
- Essential behavior: Customer service that exceeds members’ wants and needs; active listening with empathy; problem‑solving through analysis, alternative solutions, and seeking assistance when needed; diplomacy with tact and appropriate language.
- Minimum qualifications: Strong customer service skills; strong communication, organizational, and leadership abilities; basic computer proficiency.
- Physical demands: Standing and walking at least 75 % of the shift; talking in person or on the phone at least 75 % of the shift; ability to lift up to 50 lb less than 30 % of the time.

Advancement opportunities
The Team Lead position is a developmental role in the manager pipeline, the first step along the progressive “Purple Path” toward becoming a Club Manager. Team Leads learn the Planet Fitness culture while building leadership and development skills. Those who successfully complete the Team Lead program may advance to Manager in Training and, subsequently, to Club Manager.
