Team Lead

Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea is an established, premium coffeehouse brand founded in Ann Arbor with over 29 years of successful operation. This location is inside the University of Michigan Student Union, adjacent to the glass atrium and near West Quad dormitory.

About the role

We are looking for Team Leads/Shift Leads who enjoy working with people, leading a team, and crafting coffee, espresso, and tea beverages.

Responsibilities

• Build sales through excellent product execution, guest service, and team management.
• Ensure coffee, tea, and espresso drinks are correctly and efficiently prepared to Sweetwaters standards.
• Encourage and guide the team to meet marketing and sales goals during every shift.
• Lead the team on guest service, training, product quality, merchandising, cleanliness, and food safety.
• Provide friendly, accurate, and efficient guest service.
• Execute accurate and proper cash handling procedures.
• Ensure the café is clean, organized, and inviting at all times.
• Maintain and communicate knowledge of the coffee, teas, and other products offered at Sweetwaters.
• Support the General Manager in preparing and submitting weekly orders.
• Support the General Manager in completing monthly inventory counts and mark-out tracking.

Requirements

• Food service experience.
• Proven sales experience.
• Must enjoy working with people, be able to multi-task, and work in a busy, fast-paced environment.
• Strong guest service skills; must be friendly, accurate, and efficient.
• Passion for quality and enjoyment of coffee or tea.
• Must be available weekends and at least 15 hours per week.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
• Loves to laugh and work in a positive environment.

Preferred Experience

• Supervisory experience.
• Leadership experience.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Training

Management training offered to qualified candidates.

Pay

$16–$17 per hour (includes tips).
