About the Role

The Assistant Manager assists in overseeing gym operations to ensure an exceptional “Judgement Free” member experience and a financially successful club.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and developing a high-performing staff (Member Service Representatives, Trainers, and Custodians).
• Maintain a welcoming atmosphere for members, prospective members, and guests, ensuring staff follows superior customer service guidelines.
• Provide backup support to the Club Manager and assist with staff management.
• Assist in scheduling and supervising staff.
• Oversee member service to ensure staff delivers a superior customer experience at all times.
• Assist in resolving or escalating employee issues or concerns.
• Handle front desk activities, including:
  • Answering phones and assisting callers with questions.
  • Checking members into the system.
  • New member sign-up and tours for prospective members.
  • Facilitating member requests, issues, and questions.
• Assist in overseeing cleanliness and maintenance of the facility.
• Order supplies within a specific budget based on club requirements.
• Track and report statistics (weekly, monthly, and annually).
• Provide backup support for absent employees.

Requirements

• Superior customer service skills, preferably in the fitness industry.
• Experience as a Member Service Representative at Planet Fitness.
• Solid supervisory, diplomacy, and listening skills.
• Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Suite).
• Hardworking, enthusiastic, and energetic.
• Strong problem-resolution skills.
• Current CPR Certification.
• High school diploma/GED equivalent.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.

Physical Demands

• Continual standing and walking during shift.
• Continual talking in person or on the phone during shift.
• Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
• Will occasionally encounter toxic chemicals during shift.
