About the role

The Team Lead, Aircraft Maintenance at West Star is responsible for supervising a team and directing project flow. They require extensive knowledge of engine and aircraft systems, including troubleshooting in hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems. This role also involves inspecting aircraft or mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, mentor, and guide a team of aviation maintenance and services technicians, fostering a positive work environment and enhancing technician skills through on-the-job training and performance coaching.
  • Participate in hiring and disciplinary matters while conducting quarterly performance assessments and feedback.
  • Provide daily oversight of assigned technicians, setting work schedules and supporting aircraft deliveries. Collaborate with other Team Leads to ensure adequate manpower, parts, and resources for project success.
  • Ensure strict adherence to aviation regulations, safety protocols, and company policies to maintain a safe working environment for all team members and customers.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure the highest standards of service delivery and compliance with company quality assurance guidelines.
  • Coordinate and conduct training programs to equip team members with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively and build skill proficiency.
  • Identify areas for process enhancement and implement strategies to optimize team workflows, efficiency, and overall productivity.
  • Oversee the maintenance of service center tools, equipment, and hangar spaces to ensure adequate availability and proper storage or working order. Address concerns and needs promptly to the Program Manager.
  • Ensure all assigned team members maintain accurate and up-to-date records of activities, including work orders, R&I forms, parts tags, resolutions, reports, and relevant documentation.
  • Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English.

Requirements

  • A High school diploma or equivalent, and Airframe and Powerplant License are required.
  • Aircraft specific factory training is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.
  • 10 years’ experience on aircraft maintenance preferred.
  • 4+ years on program specific aircraft.

  • Extensive knowledge of engine and aircraft systems, including the ability to troubleshoot in hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Direct customer contact and supervision of programs and customer sales.
  • Self-motivated and able to perform in a fast-paced environment, working under specific deadlines and time constraints.
  • Strong team management skills and the ability to deal with customers directly, including areas of conflict.

Pay

The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $45.00 - $53.00. Additional compensation in the form of a shift differential will be provided if the employee is assigned to an alternate shift.
