About the Role

The Team Lead coordinates and oversees all operational activities in the warehouse, including warehousing, receiving, and shipping of product. Under the direction of the Operations Supervisor, the Team Lead ensures associates meet company objectives in performance, safety, and quality while complying with all corporate and site-specific policies.

Responsibilities

  • Training:
    • Mentor and train new and existing associates in distribution activities to meet customer demands.
    • Train associates on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for shipping, receiving, picking, and quality control.
    • Assist in forklift operation and certification for new and existing associates.
  • Shipping/Receiving:
    • Oversee unloading of inbound shipments, stacking of product, and picking/staging of outbound shipments for maximum productivity.
    • Verify inbound/outbound paperwork with drivers, ensuring accurate product counts.
    • Load orders efficiently and accurately according to doors and trailers.
    • Research discrepancies in shipping and receiving processes.
  • Customer Service:
    • Maintain professional appearance and communications.
    • Communicate with customers via phone, electronically, or in person.
    • Prepare accurate activity reports for site management.
  • Quality Control:
    • Use appropriate documentation to ensure correct receipt, shipment, and picking of products/orders.
    • Verify products/orders meet quality standards, reporting damages or discrepancies.
    • Stack, package, shrink wrap, and label products according to SOPs.
    • Report inconsistencies to the Operations Supervisor or Manager and participate in quality meetings.
  • Safety, Housekeeping, and Compliance:
    • Comply with relevant ISO standards, safety protocols, and OSHA/MSDS standards.
    • Maintain warehouse cleanliness and security.
    • Participate in safety meetings.
  • Labor Management:
    • Direct warehouse work teams to achieve productivity objectives.
    • Assist associates with productivity sheets and accurate payroll hour capture.
    • Help maintain a productive workforce and establish work schedules.
    • Ensure associates follow quality procedures and guidelines.
  • Additional Duties:
    • Participate in department meetings and address non-conformities in product, process, or quality systems.
    • Operate equipment (e.g., sit-down/stand-up forklifts, pallet jacks, scissor lifts) safely and perform minor maintenance.
    • Perform clerical/administrative tasks (e.g., answering phones, filing, scheduling) as needed.
    • Work evenings, weekends, and overtime as required.
    • Assist in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1+ year of experience in logistics, distribution, or a relevant warehouse environment.
  • Ability to operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE).
  • Ability to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures (mild to moderate).

Skills

  • Computer Skills: Basic proficiency, including RF scanners and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • Language Skills: English (reading, writing, verbal).
  • Mathematical Skills: Basic to intermediate (e.g., verifying quantities, counting inventory).
  • Other:
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
    • Effective communication with all organizational levels.
    • Adaptability to fast-paced, changing environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of warehouse/logistics/distribution experience.
  • 2–4 years of proven forklift experience.
  • Current or prior MHE certification.

Physical Demands

  • Occasionally: Hand/finger manipulation, sitting, handling product/packaging.
  • Frequently: Bending.
  • Constantly: Walking and standing.
  • Lift/carry/push/pull 21–50 pounds.
  • Reach above shoulder, outward, squat, or kneel.

Work Environment

The role is primarily in a warehouse setting with low to moderate noise levels. Rare exposure to fumes, airborne particles, or toxic/caustic chemicals.

Pay

Expected base pay range: $23.00 – $25.00 per hour. Actual compensation depends on experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
