About the Role

The F-18 Integrated Product Team (IPT) at NAWCWD China Lake is seeking a Data Analyst (DA) to work in a dynamic environment analyzing data, creating analysis tools, and reporting test results for F/A-18 C/D integration testing.

Responsibilities

• Support technical engineering reviews, understand system requirements, and learn technical details of the F/A-18 C/D Integration effort to help execute a dynamic test program.
• Review system-level documentation and provide changes and recommendations.
• Interface with other government agencies and contractors on acquisition programs to ensure Navy interests are met.
• Actively participate in test planning for ground, laboratory, and flight test events to ensure decision-quality test data collection.
• Develop test support, instrumentation, and data recording requirements to facilitate critical flight test data collection.
• Develop requirements for test scenarios and associated documentation in flight cards and lab test procedures.
• Design test methods for evaluating performance and create test scenarios to yield valid, measurable quantitative results.
• Participate in pre- and post-test briefings and advise on system troubleshooting and behavior.
• Assess and resolve engineering issues in real-time during test missions.
• Participate in lab testing, perform tests using emulators and simulators, and support integration of multiple emulators and simulators.
• Design data analysis processes to assess system performance over development cycles.
• Perform timely and accurate analysis to support decision authorities, with experience in aircraft 1553 Mux and MIDS data.
• Develop data analysis tools to streamline and automate data processing, handling large datasets.
• Analyze test data (real-time and post-mission) to understand results, draw conclusions, and assess mission outcomes.
• Communicate test results verbally and in writing to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Leverage analytical studies to evaluate and advise on system architecture or potential alternative solutions.
• Report systems performance in official Navy T&E reports.

Travel may be desired but is not required.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline with 5+ years of experience in flight test and/or aircraft platforms and weapons. Alternatively, a high school diploma with 13+ years of experience or an associate degree with 7+ years of experience in the same fields.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment; ability to acquire a Top Secret clearance.
• Experience working with legacy avionics systems, including understanding of assembly code.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to liaison with outside agencies and work independently.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret multiple technical data sets and present data in tables, charts, and graphs.
• Ability to learn and use multiple data analysis tools and software packages for data reduction and display.
• Experience with coding in compiled and scripting languages (e.g., MATLAB, Python, C#) to develop or modify analysis tools.
• Basic understanding of test plans and Detailed Methods of Test for weapons systems undergoing integration or regression testing on the F/A-18 aircraft.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
