Teaching Professor, English
The Department of English at the University of San Diego, housed within the College of Arts and Sciences, is seeking a Teaching Professor to work within the curriculum of both the English Department and the University’s Writing Program (housed in the English Department).
About the role
This position is for one year, teaching four courses each per semester (a 4:4 load). It is a full-time, benefit-based position with an anticipated end date of May 31, 2027. The appointment is renewable at the discretion of the University and dependent upon performance and continued funding.
Responsibilities
- Excellence in teaching at both the lower-division and upper-division levels, particularly: first-year writing, literary theory, genre literature, oral histories, preparatory college writing, English as a second language, and creative writing courses.
- Demonstrated a commitment to teaching and research, mentoring undergraduates, and fostering a climate of inclusion and diversity.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching by remaining active in their fields through publications.
Requirements
- Hold an advanced degree, preferably a doctorate or other terminal degree.
- ABD candidates will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- Commitment to teaching and research, mentoring undergraduates, and fostering a climate of inclusion and diversity.
