PRIMARY FUNCTION
Faculty members are expected to be effective teachers, to maintain current knowledge in their fields, and to have pedagogic skills that are appropriate for our students. Faculty members are also expected to continue development of their knowledge and skills, to contribute to the community of scholars, and to represent the College in the community.
Essential Job Functions
- Teaches at times and locations that meet student needs.
- Provides access to students through posted conference hours, electronic communications, and other appropriate methods and responds to inquiries in a timely manner.
- Reviews, evaluates, and recommends student learning materials.
- Designs and/or maintains course shells on LMS that meet the standards for accessibility, quality assurance, and regular and substantive interaction (RSI).

Required Education
- Master’s degree in a related field (English, Literature, Composition/Rhetoric, Reading) to the teaching discipline with preference given to 18 hours of graduate-level coursework in English or Literature.
- Preference will be given to candidates with two (2) or more years of community college teaching experience.
- Preference will be given to candidates who have either taught dual credit courses or high school.
- Preference will be given to candidates who have distance-learning teaching experience.
Note
All faculty are expected to fulfill the College’s on-campus expectations, currently a 35-hour per week physical presence.
