Professor of English

Primary location: 3452 Spur 399, McKinney, Texas, 75069. Teaching assignments may be on one or more of the college's campuses or off-site locations and may include evening, weekend, or Dual Credit courses. This position is designated for in-person work at a campus or other location of Collin College; remote or telecommuting arrangements are not permitted except under specific statutory exceptions.

About the role

Responsible for preparing and delivering coursework in engaging, innovative, and discipline-appropriate ways that reflect the college's core values, an understanding of culturally responsive teaching, and knowledge of the teaching field. Must meet professional standards for faculty in accordance with college policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in accordance with the schedule of classes and follow the approved course descriptions and syllabi established by the Division faculty and administered by the associate dean/director.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Perform all duties and maintain all standards in accordance with college policies, procedures, and core values.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in the discipline/qualifying field or a Master's in any discipline with 18 graduate hours in the discipline/qualifying field.
• This position is security-sensitive; candidates will be subject to a criminal background check. If selected for a dual credit course(s), an additional fingerprint-based background check with the TX DPS will be required by the assigned ISD.
• Conferred transcripts must be attached to the application; applications without transcripts will not be considered.

Physical demands

• Sedentary work: exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently.
• Involves sitting most of the time; walking and standing are required only occasionally.
• Typically includes talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking, repetitive motions, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
• Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards; office environment.

Pay

Per Adjunct Faculty and CE Instructor Rates.
