Teaching Instructor or Assistant Teaching Professor - CY

This is a 12‑month, full‑time, non‑tenure‑track faculty position (Teaching Instructor or Assistant Teaching Professor) in the Department of Animal Sciences at Rutgers School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, located on the Cook Campus in New Brunswick, NJ. The role involves teaching across the Pre‑veterinary Medicine/Research, Companion Animal Science, and Equine and Production Animal Science options, as well as academic advising and curriculum development.

Responsibilities

• Develop and teach undergraduate courses such as Animal Nutrition, Genetics, Pathophysiology, Physiology, Reproduction, and Companion Animal Health and Diseases.
• Create new courses in the candidate’s area of expertise.
• Provide academic advising for first‑year, upper‑class, and transfer students in the undergraduate program (over 450 students across four options).
• Assist with course assessment and other administrative duties.

Qualifications

• Strong background in animal sciences and/or life sciences.
• DVM or Ph.D. required.
• For Assistant Teaching Professor level: at least 4 years of teaching and/or related experience.

Pay

Salary is $85,588 or $93,588 (calendar year). The final offer may vary based on qualifications, experience, expertise, department/grant funding, market benchmarks, and internal equity.
