Responsibilities
The FSU College of Nursing is seeking to hire a collaborative educator to teach in our graduate program, based in Tallahassee, Florida (FL).
- Actively work with the Assistant Dean for Graduate Program to develop and revise Graduate Curriculum.
- Assume an active role in recruiting prospective graduate students to the FNP (Family Nurse Practitioner) major.
- Review potential plans of study with prospective students.
- Maintain pertinent professional organization membership and assume leadership roles in professional organizations that support FNP practice and education.
- Teach Core Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or FNP courses as assigned; assume lead responsibility for practicum courses within course.
- Conduct DNP and certificate FNP Program orientation activities.
- Oversee Objective Structured Clinical Evaluation (OSCE) within track.
- Work with Clinical Coordinator to recruit high-quality clinical preceptors.
- Manage student clinical rotations in conjunction with assigned clinical faculty.
- Work with the Assistant Dean for Graduate Program to forecast student enrollments in track courses.
- Work with Clinical Coordinator to execute PEPs, or preceptor forms/letters as needed.
- Review and verify clinical logs of DNP and certificate FNP students, providing student and faculty feedback, as appropriate.
- Review and monitor clinical hours for graduate students.
- Track certification requirements and results for Graduate Program.
- Evaluate transfer credits for FNP students in conjunction with the Assistant Dean.
- Complete and conduct FNP student annual review (May - June) and guide students through admission, matriculation and completion of major related courses.
- Complete education verification forms for certification.
- Other duties as assigned in the coordination of track-related activities as the lead faculty program track faculty member, such as but not limited to: supporting new faculty teaching in both didactic and practicum courses (orient to course syllabus, set up Simple syllabus as needed, orient students and relevant faculty to the track, track courses, and track-related activities).
Qualifications
- An academic doctorate (PhD, DNP) or highest-level terminal degree in nursing from an accredited institution is required, with eligibility for graduate faculty status.
- Non-nurse trained candidates will not be considered.
- Active FL Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license; or licensed in another state with eligibility to obtain FL licensure within 30 days of hire.
- Relevant teaching experience in graduate nursing education.
- Knowledge of DNP education standards and AACN Essentials (2021).
- Experience with curriculum development, course coordination, or program evaluation.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with students, faculty, and staff at all levels within a collaborative environment.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook or equivalent software.
- Experience supervising and training employees.
- Experience meeting project deadlines.
