Teaching Assistant Professor of Mathematics

About the Role

NY Tech’s College of Arts and Sciences seeks a full-time Teaching Assistant Professor in Mathematics, located at the New York City campus. The projected starting date is January 25, 2027, with primary teaching responsibilities at the New York City campus and future opportunities to teach at the Long Island campus.

Responsibilities

• Teach 21 credit hours during the academic year, including all pre-calculus and calculus service courses, as well as other advanced courses within the candidate's area of specialization.
• Participate in curriculum development and service to the Mathematics Department.
• Contribute to initiatives reforming pre-calculus and calculus courses through the implementation of active learning strategies to improve student retention and success.

Qualifications

• A doctoral degree in Mathematics Education, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics from a Mathematics Department is required.
• Preference for candidates with prior teaching experience at a university.
• Experience increasing student engagement in pre-calculus courses using active learning methods.
• Experience developing teaching materials that promote active learning.
• Ability to assist with the professional development of pre-calculus instructors.

Pay

The annual base salary range for this position is USD $75,000.00 to $85,000.00 per year. New York Tech considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience, education, key skills, geographic location, internal peer equity, market and organizational considerations, and applicable collective bargaining agreements when extending an offer.
