About the role

The Department of Business seeks a motivated, organized, and detail-oriented graduate student to serve as a Teaching Assistant (TA) supporting the BSBA, MBA, MSBAN, and MBA Pro+ programs, curriculum development for the Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBAN), and accreditation-related initiatives. This part-time, non-exempt position is based in Fremont, CA, with eligibility for a hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities

• Teaching & Student Support
  • Attend all assigned MBA Pro+ class sessions.
  • Schedule and hold regular office hours (2 hours per week if assigned to a single course).
  • Provide in-class instructional and administrative support as directed by faculty.
  • Assist with the creation and assessment of assignments and quizzes (excluding midterms/finals).
  • Support assigned MBA Pro+ courses as needed.
  • Conduct research related to course content, instructional materials, and student learning.
  • Perform other teaching-related duties as assigned.
• Course Development & Accreditation Support
  • Support curriculum planning, instructional design, and preparation of course content in the learning management system.
  • Assist with gathering, organizing, and maintaining documentation for accreditation reviews and academic assessment.
  • Support faculty in preparing reports, course materials, and learning outcomes for program quality and continuous improvement.
• Exam Proctoring
  • Proctor examinations in accordance with university and instructor guidelines.
  • Monitor classroom activities to maintain academic integrity, including reporting suspected incidents of dishonesty.
  • Implement preventative measures to discourage inappropriate behaviors (note: proctors may not confront students during exams).

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or a closely related field.
• Current enrollment in a master’s degree program at San Francisco Bay University.
• Demonstrated knowledge of business concepts through relevant coursework.
• Strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality with academic and institutional information.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and educational technologies.
• Experience as a Teaching Assistant, tutor, peer mentor, or student leader.
• Familiarity with online learning platforms and instructional technologies.
• Interest or experience in curriculum development, accreditation processes, or academic assessment.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a collaborative environment.

Schedule

• Teaching Assistants are scheduled based on course assignments and departmental needs.
• Office hours and work schedules are coordinated with supervising faculty.
• Student Employment Requirements:
  • Maximum of 20 hours per week while classes are in session.
  • Maximum of 8 hours in one workday.
  • May not work seven consecutive days within a workweek.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to remain seated or standing for extended periods during class sessions and examinations.
• Ability to use a computer and standard office equipment.
• Effective communication with faculty, staff, and students.

Pay

Compensation for this position is $18–$22/hour. This position is not eligible for benefits.
