Teaching Artist

Job Summary

The City Theatre is seeking Teaching Artists to support the Young Playwrights and Arts Access programs. This role works with middle and high school students across Southwestern Pennsylvania, facilitating creative writing, playmaking, and theatre-based learning experiences that center youth voice, creativity, and collaboration.

About the Role

This part-time, contract-based role works in classrooms and community settings to help students develop original work and build confidence as writers and creators.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate creative writing and playmaking workshops for middle and high school students
• Support students in developing their own original work
• Build students' confidence as writers and creators
• Work in both classroom and community settings

Requirements

• Experience working with middle and high school students
• Strong facilitation skills and ability to engage students in creative activities
• Passion for fostering creativity and confidence in young people
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education, theatre, English, or related field preferred
• Teaching certification or equivalent experience
• Experience with youth development and creative writing
