Core Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and implement standards-aligned lessons using the Massachusetts Frameworks and WIDA standards
  • Use formative and summative assessments to measure student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Manage student behavior in alignment with school expectations and create an inclusive, engaging learning environment
  • Communicate regularly with students' families to promote academic success and language development
  • Participate in school-wide functions, professional development, and curriculum planning
  • Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with ILPs and state mandates
  • Support students with diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds, including newcomers and SLIFE population
  • Complete other duties as assigned
  • Meet weekly with a grade-level content team and an interdisciplinary cohort
  • Collaborate with Special Education and ESL teachers to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students
  • Participate in biweekly instructional coaching sessions to improve instructional practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred; appropriate Massachusetts DESE licensure required-this includes a passing score on the Communication and Literacy - Skills test and a passing score on the relevant subject matter knowledge test(s).
  • A SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) endorsement is required.
  • A minimum of two years teaching experience in a school setting serving a similar demographic preferred, but not required.

Pay Range

In accordance with the Lawrence Teachers' Union. ($61,788 - $94,614)
