About the Role

This is a full-time teaching position in our Science Department, potentially involving a combination of middle and high school students. Final course assignments will be determined based on leading candidates' areas of strength and master scheduling needs for the coming school year.

Responsibilities

• Curriculum development and implementation for all assigned courses, ensuring students are meaningfully engaged in rigorous learning "from bell to bell." Lesson plans are submitted weekly, and assignments are posted to Canvas to support students and families.
• Assessment design and analysis for all assigned courses, using informal and formal assessments to inform students, faculty, and families of academic progress and individual needs. Grades are updated weekly.
• Student advisory, including planning and implementation of our College Crew class. All full-time faculty collaboratively design a grade-level College Crew course to support students in attaining college and career readiness.
• Parent/family engagement and communication. In College Crew, parents are contacted weekly as needed regarding attendance and academics. Faculty utilize digital tools such as Canvas, DeansList, and PowerSchool to communicate course expectations and progress.
• Professional collaboration and learning. Faculty participate in reflective practice, professional learning, departmental, and grade-level team meetings, including weekly collaborative planning sessions.
• Personalized learning and support for all students. Faculty collaborate with IEP teams, case managers, and EL support staff to implement individualized education plans for students with exceptional learning and language needs.
• Co-curricular and extra-curricular engagement with students. Faculty sponsor or supervise academic support and enrichment activities during flexible learning time, typically three times per week.
• School operations. Faculty assist in the orderly operation of the school, equitably apply and adhere to policies/procedures, and perform weekly supervisory duties.

Requirements

• Must be licensed to teach in New Mexico and endorsed/highly qualified in the subject areas to which they apply. Candidates should verify state reciprocity requirements with the New Mexico Public Education Department's Licensure Bureau.
• Pre-service candidates should demonstrate enrollment in or completion of alternative licensure programming that qualifies them for provisional New Mexico licensing.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated skills in formative assessment and scaffolding/differentiation in lesson demonstrations. Teachers must support students with a full range of knowledge, skill, and ability levels in pre-AP and AP courses.
• Proficiency in the social-emotional dimensions of teaching, including building effective relationships and rapport to promote intellectual risk-taking for all students and staff.
• Proficiency in digital tools for the classroom, including Google Suite, interactive whiteboards/peripherals, Canvas (LMS), and PowerSchool.
