Teacher - Visual Art, Gr. K-6 (SY26-27)

This is a long-term substitute position expected to start on 09/08/2026 and end on 12/07/2026. All substitute teachers are hired as per diem substitutes, even for long-term assignments, and begin at the per diem rate of pay.

Responsibilities

Requirements

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree.
• Hold a valid Massachusetts Teaching License for Visual Art at the appropriate level.
• Meet all state and federal guidelines to be fully licensed and "Highly Qualified" according to NCLB.
• Ability to meet the Standards of Effective Teaching established by BPS.
• Current authorization to work in the United States by the first day of employment.

Qualifications

• Preferred:
  • Experience teaching in urban schools.
  • Fluency in one of BPS' official languages: Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean), Creole (Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, or Somali.
  • Certification in Moderate Disabilities, English as a Second Language, or both (at the appropriate grade level).

The start and end times of BPS schools vary, as do the lengths of the school day. Some schools have a longer day through the "Schedule A" Expanded Learning Time (ELT) agreement.
