Requirements

  • Hold a valid Oklahoma teaching certificate with Special Education endorsement.
  • Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the legal requirements of an IEP and the MEEGS process as outlined in Oklahoma.
  • Must have a working knowledge of IDEA 2004.
  • Must be proficient in the use of a computer, databases, Excel, Word, etc.
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills required.
  • Transportation and the ability to move between schools required.

Skills and Abilities Required

Responsibilities

  • Plan curriculum and prepare lessons and other instructional materials to meet individual needs of the student considering state and school requirements and educational levels of development.
  • Ability to provide accommodations to meet individual student's needs.
  • Prepare all acquired special education paperwork in a timely manner in order to satisfy state requirements.
  • Conduct annual IEP meetings.
  • Review and report student progress in a required time frame. Discuss student's progress with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators.
  • Ability to co-teach if necessary.
  • Ability to work well with all related service providers.
  • Supervise and mentor teacher assistants and personal care assistants who work with students with disabilities.
  • Prepare and help students transition from grade to grade and/or post graduation.
  • Perform other teaching duties as specific to specialized area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Pay

THIS POSITION IS FULL-TIME, PERMANENT.
