Job Duties
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of school curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
- Prepare emergency lesson plan folder to cover 2 days of material.
- Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
- Present subject matter according to guidelines established to Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students.
- Coverage of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
- Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for SPED students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans.
- Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
- Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aid and volunteers.
- Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
- Participate in extended day and weekend school tutoring as required.
Student Growth And Development
- Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
- Teach students to work toward self-discipline and responsibility.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Absorb responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
- Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus Assistant Director.
- Be a positive role model for students, support mission of school.
- Ensure good student discipline by being regular in attendance and on time.
Classroom Management And Organization
- Create a positive classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Maintain neat and orderly classroom.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- Use the discipline management plan to include but not limited to: o Ground rules, stated positively and posted so they may be easily seen. o A step process which includes reinforcement for appropriate on task behavior and consequences for inappropriate off-task behavior, which is posted at all times. o A lesson agenda, which models task organization and time management skills and insures total time planning in the classroom.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
Communication
- Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, directors, and teachers.
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Professional Growth And Development
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
Charter & Community Responsibilities
- Convey the charter's mission to the public and encourage support in accomplishing the mission.
- Illustrate understanding of Charter and community needs and begin activities to meet those needs.
- Demonstrate use of productive and efficient skills to raise community and parent involvement.
