Job Summary

The Secondary Math Teacher will plan and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction, using a variety of strategies, resources, and assessments to meet diverse student needs and promote critical thinking, autonomy, and engagement. They will establish a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment by implementing Positive Behavior Supports, Restorative Practices, school-wide expectations, and appropriate de-escalation strategies while ensuring students' rights are respected. They will collaborate with colleagues, engage in ongoing professional learning, communicate regularly with families, and complete additional duties as assigned by school administrators.

What You Will Do

Instructional Planning and Delivery

  • Plan and deliver rigorous, engaging instruction aligned to the school's instructional model and driven by applicable standards.
  • Incorporate a variety of strategies and resources to respond to students' diverse needs and interests, including prescribed educational software and curriculum.
  • Facilitate learning experiences that promote autonomy, interaction, and student choice.
  • Engage students in problem-solving, critical thinking, and meaning-making.

Assessment & Data-Driven Instruction

  • Design and administer assessments, and use assessment data to refine curricula and inform instruction and intervention.

Classroom Culture, Behavior & Student Safety

  • Implement Positive Behavior Support strategies and Restorative Practices to develop a safe and nurturing classroom community.
  • Reinforce school-wide rules, policies, and expectations in and outside of the classroom.
  • Ensure the rights of all students are observed and protected through appropriate and respectful communication, proper de-escalation techniques, and the use of nonviolent crisis intervention strategies when required.

Family & Community Engagement

  • Communicate frequently with students' families through multiple means, including progress reports, conferences, family events, phone calls.

Collaboration & Professional Learning

  • Collaborate with colleagues, including teachers, administrators, and instructional coaches.
  • Engage in ongoing learning through regular professional development and collaboration, including grade-level, department, and PLC meetings.

  • Complete other duties as directed by school administrators.

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualifications: California Single Subject Mathematics teaching credential or hold a University Intern Credential, Provisional Internship Permit, or Short Term Staff Permit in the required content with English Learner Authorization (required).
  • Preferred qualifications: Spanish Bilingual.

Compensation And Benefits

  • Competitive salary range $66,310-$119,412 (Plus an annual $10,000 retention bonus).
  • The Accelerated Schools (TAS) accepts up to 35 years of prior years of experience where the employee worked full-time as a certificated employee for a minimum of 75% of the school year.
