About the role

Wetherbee School is seeking an exceptional Grade 7 Science Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate possesses a growth mindset, values collaboration and continuous feedback, is passionate about their content, and has an unwavering belief that all students are capable of meeting rigorous academic expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility to be a strong, positive force daily in the classroom by consistently and thoughtfully motivating students to work hard and want to learn.
  • Design, implement, and collaborate on high-quality shared curricula that incorporate research-based strategies to help students master Massachusetts and Common Core standards.
  • Motivate students to reach high achievement by setting class-wide and individual goals, and provide specific, actionable feedback on their progress.
  • Build supportive working relationships with fellow teachers, associate teachers, and staff, and provide regular feedback to help develop associate teachers.
  • Engage in weekly professional development and intensive coaching with administration and colleagues, embracing a growth mindset to actively improve instruction, curriculum, and management.
  • Wholeheartedly embrace school-wide systems to ensure consistency within the school learning community, including smooth transitions between classes and grades (e.g., school-wide writing practices, annotation strategies, behavior systems).
  • Use the school-wide behavior system to establish strong classroom culture, consistent routines, and high expectations for students, ensuring uniform culture throughout the school to minimize wasted learning time.
  • Teach all subject areas in a self-contained classroom.
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed and assigned by administration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Active Massachusetts Teacher Certification with SEI Endorsement.
  • Valid Massachusetts Teaching License in ESL preferred.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States.
  • Proficient in English; bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
  • Experience in urban education.

Pay

$61,788 to $96,114 based on experience and the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

All offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of the required background check and availability of funding.
