What You’ll Do As a Math Teacher
- Plan and implement age-appropriate lessons meeting the needs of individuals enrolled in the elementary program.
- Create and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans to meet individual student needs.
- Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress notes.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians by means of conferences, notes, phone calls, e-mail, and newsletters.
- Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
- Identify pupil needs, make appropriate referrals, and participate in developing strategies for individual education plans.
- Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school.
- Plan and coordinate work of paraprofessionals and volunteers in the classroom and on educational trips.
- Create a functional and organized environment for learning.
- Utilize and implement behavior management, communication, and conflict resolution techniques, progressive crisis intervention techniques, and perform Safety Crisis Management when required.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s Degree
- PA Teaching Certification (Public School Certification or Private Academic School Certification) (Mathematics Instructional Certification)
- Experience using effective behavior management techniques in relating to children to encourage participation and positive relationships and demonstrates enthusiasm in lessons.
- Must be 21 years of age
