About the role
Teaches and instructs pre-school children in a curriculum of pre-academic social, adaptive, communication, and motor skills.
Responsibilities
- Prepares and implements weekly lesson plans in conformance with established program curriculum
- Assists in integrating Muckleshoot language and culture in the classroom setting
- Performs development screenings
- Maintains a healthy, safe, and developmentally appropriate program
- Provides opportunities for parents to learn about the growth and development of their children
- Directs the activities of instructional assistants and volunteers
- Participates in school meetings, IEP/IFSP/ILP meetings, and in-service and other trainings
- Plans and participates in parent conferences; supports parent involvement in the classroom
- Prepares and maintains all required documentation and records; provides reports for administrative purposes
- Requisitions, stores and maintains an appropriate inventory of textbooks, instructional materials, supplies and equipment
- Supervises students in a variety of educational settings
- Uses positive reinforcement strategies and other appropriate techniques to assist students in the development of appropriate behavior and an appreciation of human diversity
- Plans, organizes, and develops a variety of instructional materials and learning aids for use with individual or small groups of students
- Uses good judgment regarding appropriate action to assist injured or physically ill students
- Maintains an orderly, attractive and positive learning environment
Requirements
- Required Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, or related field from an accredited college or university
- One (1) year of professional experience teaching pre-school age children
Special Requirements
- Must pass a criminal background check
- Must pass a drug screen
- Must meet all health and immunization requirements
- Must be able to obtain satisfactory results on a pre-employment physical examination, including tuberculosis screening
