The Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections (DOC) seeks a Teacher-Professional at Allen Correctional Center. Responsibilities
- Enhance student (offender) learning and achievement
- Provide consultation and professional development activities to faculty
- Monitor offender attendance and compile data
- Administer academic tests and determine eligibility for the final HI-SET exam
- Schedule offenders for the next available HI-SET testing class
- Maintain a structured, secure, and respectful classroom environment
- Audit student progress, track performance, and adjust strategies to support academic growth and achievement
Requirements
This position requires a current, valid Louisiana Teacher's Certificate in an academic content area with an Adult Education endorsement or completion of six semester hours per academic year approved by the Education Director to acquire a Louisiana teaching certificate with an Adult Education endorsement. College credit/degree and/or teacher certification must be verified by official documentation.
Qualifications
Experience in adult education, strong classroom management skills, adaptability, clear communication, and the ability to motivate students from diverse backgrounds and learning levels are required. A background check and authorization for reference checks under PREA are required.

Pay
Salary will be determined by the Allen Parish School Board pay plan for a 2080-hour work year, based upon experience, certification, and education level.
Schedule
The position will be expected to work 40 hours per week, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, 12 months a year, excluding state holidays for a total of 2080 work hours.
