Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Supports the Lead Teacher and Assistant Teacher in creating a Christ-centered, safe, and nurturing classroom environment.
- Assists with daily classroom activities, including lesson preparation, organization of materials, and set-up of learning stations.
- Participates in classroom routines, such as cleaning up after activities, helping prepare for the next lesson, and transitioning children between activities.
- Collaborates with teaching staff to ensure classroom harmony, communicating any concerns about students’ behavior or needs to the Lead or Assistant Teacher.
- Provides supervision and support during student transitions, recess, snack/meal times, and bathroom breaks, ensuring student safety and wellbeing.
- Maintains a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment, including assisting with cleaning tasks, organizing materials, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
- Supports faith-based classroom activities by reinforcing Christian teachings, participating in scripture readings, prayer, and other activities as directed by the Lead Teacher.
- Encourages positive behavior and models Christian values such as kindness, patience, and cooperation during all student interactions.
- Fosters a positive relationship with students, creating a warm, inclusive environment that reflects Christian love and care.
- Affords individualized attention and guidance to students, helping with basic tasks such as dressing, eating, and participating in group activities.
- Monitors and supports small group activities, providing additional help to students who need it while ensuring that learning remains on task.
- Occasionally communicates with parents during drop-off or pick-up as directed by the Lead Teacher, providing brief updates on their child’s day.
- Attends staff meetings or professional development opportunities as needed to align with classroom goals and school values.

Required Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage young children in conversation, support learning activities, and communicate with parents as needed.
- Ability to assist in maintaining a calm, organized, and structured classroom environment.
- Ability to follow instructions from the Lead and Assistant Teachers and work as part of a cohesive team.
- Willingness to assist with routine classroom tasks such as cleaning, organizing materials, preparing activities, and supervising children.
- Knowledge of basic safety and hygiene practices in a classroom environment, ensuring the health and safety of all students.
- Patience, flexibility, and a caring demeanor in helping children navigate social, emotional, and physical needs.
- Ability to model Christian values and mentor children in developing their spiritual lives.
- Willingness to participate in staff training and meetings as needed, and to support the overall goals of the faith-based school community.
Required Education
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Experience or coursework in early childhood education, child development, or related fields is preferred, but not required.
- Previous experience working with young children in a preschool, daycare, or church-based program is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with supporting classroom routines and working as part of a teaching team is desirable.
