About the Team

The Day School is an approved private school licensed by the Pennsylvania Bureau of Private Academic Schools and approved as a special education school by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Families and school districts alike have connected with our expert educational team to bring specialized education and related services, including autism support and multiple disabilities support, to nearly 200 students from 60+ school districts across western Pennsylvania each year.

Location: The Day School at The Children’s Institute, 1405 Shady Avenue, Squirrel Hill, PA 15217

About the Position

The Teacher’s Aide is responsible for assisting with the classroom team, behavioral specialists, occupational, speech, and physical therapists, school districts, and families to help our amazing students achieve their educational goals.

Responsibilities

• Assisting students to use instructional materials and equipment
• Helping Teacher get ready for the school day
• Performing necessary personal care for students
• Performing feeding, lifting, positioning and toileting duties for students as needed
• Assist students in all areas of The Day School as directed

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• One (1) or more years of experience working with children
• Experience working with exceptional children in an educational setting is preferred
• Clearances: Act 73 FBI, Act 34 Criminal Clearance, Act 33 Child Abuse
• Current and valid CPR and First Aid certification preferred (will provide training)

Schedule

Full-time, Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This is a full-time position that follows a traditional 10-month school year schedule.
