Position Title Teacher Resource Center Assistant Compensation $18.00 Department TC Deans Office - Temp Start Date 08/17/2026 About This Opportunity Teachers College is looking for a Teacher Resource Center Assistant. The Teachers College Resource Center Assistant will support the daily operation and development of the Teachers College Resource Center, a dedicated learning and workspace serving more than 1,000 pre-service teachers at Ball State University. The Resource Center provides aspiring teachers with no-cost access to high-quality instructional materials and welcoming spaces where they can prepare for field placements and student teaching, create and adapt classroom materials, collaborate with peers, study, and connect with others. The center includes a mock classroom, relaxation room, group meeting space, study rooms, and lounge. The Hourly Teacher Resource Center Assistant will help maintain an organized, accessible, and welcoming environment while assisting pre-service teachers in locating, using, creating, and preparing instructional materials for their future classrooms. What You'll Do And What You'll Bring Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist with the daily operation, organization, and maintenance of the Teachers College Resource Center.Welcome and assist pre-service teachers who use the Resource Center and help them locate appropriate instructional materials and resources.Organize, inventory, label, restock, and maintain instructional materials and supplies.Prepare consumable and reusable materials for student use in field placements and student teaching.Supervise undergrad student workers.Assist students in creating, adapting, printing, assembling, and organizing classroom materials and instructional resources.Support the development of sample lessons, classroom materials, bulletin board resources, manipulatives, learning activities, and other instructional materials.Maintain an orderly and inviting mock classroom and other Resource Center spaces.Assist with maintaining study areas, group meeting spaces, lounge areas, and other shared spaces.Monitor supplies and identify materials that need to be reordered, replaced, or replenished.Help develop systems for organizing and accessing Resource Center materials efficiently.Assist with displays, resource guides, instructional examples, and other materials that promote effective use of the Resource Center.Support Resource Center programming, workshops, demonstrations, and other activities for pre-service teachers as needed.Help ensure that the Resource Center is a welcoming, inclusive, and productive environment for collaboration, preparation, peer support, and learning.Provide basic assistance with equipment and technology used to create instructional materials, as appropriate.Communicate questions, concerns, supply needs, and maintenance issues to the appropriate Teachers College staff.Perform other duties related to the operation and development of the Teachers College Resource Center as assigned. Desired Qualifications Experience working with children, youth, schools, education, or instructional materials preferred.Interest in education, teaching, curriculum, or supporting future educators preferred.Strong organizational and time-management skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively.Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain organized materials and spaces.Comfortable assisting students and answering questions in a friendly and professional manner.Creativity and willingness to develop and create instructional materials.Basic computer and technology skills.Ability to learn and use equipment and systems needed to support Resource Center activities. Physical And Work Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout the Resource Center during work activities.Ability to lift and move boxes of instructional materials and supplies, as reasonably required.Ability to use basic office, classroom, crafting, printing, and instructional-material preparation equipment.Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace. Work Environment The position is based in the Teachers College Resource Center and involves regular interaction with pre-service teachers, faculty, staff, and other members of the Ball State University community. The position will work in a collaborative environment designed to support future educators as they prepare for classroom teaching and field experiences. Position Impact This position will play an important role in ensuring that pre-service teachers have access to the materials, resources, workspace, and support they need to develop effective classroom experiences. By helping students create and access instructional materials at no cost, the Resource Center Assistant will contribute directly to the preparation and professional development of Ball State's future educators. Minimum Requirements Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
