Teacher of the Deaf
About the role
The Teacher of the Deaf is responsible to the County Superintendent and works under the direct supervision of the designated manager(s).
Requirements / Qualifications
- Must possess Required level of education in order to obtain the appropriate authorization from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) for the position.
- Must possess an appropriate California teaching credential with a Deaf and Hard of Hearing authorization, Communication Handicapped or the ability to obtain alternative certification.
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain an English Learner Authorization.
- Must possess documentation of American Sign Language Proficiency Interview (ASLPI)/Sign Language Proficiency Interview minimum score of 4.0 or equivalent assessment.
- If hired, must provide proof of a valid California Driver's License.

- Copy of Transcript (Proof of Bachelor's degree)
- Credential Copy (California Teaching Credential authorizing specialized services to students with deaf/hard of hearing impairments)
- English Learner Authorization (Proof of or have the ability to obtain English Learners Authorization)

- Letter(s) of Recommendation (Two Letters of Recommendation are required-each letter must be dated and have a signature)
- Resume
- Test Results/Materials (ASLPI/Sign Language Proficiency Interview score 4.0)
