Teacher of Students with Disabilities

About the role

An immediate opening exists for a Teacher of Students with Disabilities or Teacher of the Handicapped to provide individualized instruction in a small school setting. The successful candidate will meet the needs of students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) through differentiated instruction and alternative assessments. Lessons should be hands-on and dynamic.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and support the school-wide behavior management system
• Provide individualized instruction to students with IEPs
• Implement differentiated instruction and alternative assessments
• Create hands-on and dynamic lessons

Requirements

• Valid NJ Elementary K-6 certification
• Valid NJ Teacher of Students with Disabilities certification
• Valid NJ Teacher of Handicapped certification

Qualifications

• Experience working with students with disabilities
• Ability to differentiate instruction
• Knowledge of alternative assessment methods

Skills

• Strong classroom management skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers and staff
• Effective communication skills
