Dutchess BOCES Career and Technical Institute is seeking an enthusiastic, student-centered Health Occupations Teacher to prepare high school students for rewarding careers in the healthcare industry. About the role
Full-time, 10-month, tenure track assignment. Reports to the Principal.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver standards-based instruction aligned with New York State CTE and Health Science standards.
- Create engaging, hands-on learning experiences in areas such as:
- Medical terminology
- Anatomy and physiology
- Infection control
- Vital signs
- Patient care skills
- CPR and First Aid
- Healthcare ethics and professionalism
- Medical law and confidentiality (HIPAA)
- Prepare students for applicable industry-recognized certifications.
- Integrate employability skills, communication, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving into daily instruction.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and industry-standard classroom and laboratory environment.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Collaborate with academic support staff, special education teachers, counselors, and administrators to ensure student success.
- Develop partnerships with local healthcare providers to support clinical experiences, job shadowing, guest speakers, and work-based learning opportunities.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, competencies, and industry credential attainment.
- Participate in curriculum development, professional learning, advisory committees, and school improvement initiatives.
- Support and advise students participating in SkillsUSA and other Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs).
Requirements
- New York State Teaching Certification in an appropriate CTE or Health Occupations area (or eligibility to obtain certification).
- Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or other healthcare credential with recent clinical experience preferred.
- Minimum of four (4) years of successful healthcare industry experience.
- Experience working with adolescents, adult learners, or in a training environment preferred.
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and student-centered instruction.
- Current CPR/BLS Instructor certification or willingness to obtain.

Pay
$60,000 - $85,000 approximate
